About The Yurt

Situated between Athy and Kilcullen, TheYurt is within easy reach for those travelling from Dublin, Carlow, Laois, Kilkenny, Wicklow and Kildare. Nestled in the countryside, we are surrounded by tranquil farmland and open skies and just a 20min walk from the Moate of Ardscull. 

TheYurt is a spacious, circular, heated tent, warmly decorated with natural textiles and memorabilia from past travels. Since 2017, we have welcomed thousands of visitors, each leaving behind a trace of their energy which becomes part of the positive atmosphere you feel when you step inside TheYurt.  

Adjacent to TheYurt, you’ll find a cozy breakout room, a kitchenette, WC and shower. There is also a private garden area for outdoor picnics when the weather allows. There is parking for appx 10 cars.

Over the years, we’ve hosted yoga and meditation classes, breathwork sessions, sound baths, wellness workshops, women’s circles, summer camps, retreats, private events. We offer programs for both adults and children, providing a versatile space for personal growth and community connection.The Space

A traditional yurt is a circular, portable tent, originally used by nomadic Central Asian peoples. Crafted with a wooden or bamboo frame and covered in animal skins, it was designed to endure the harsh desert winds. While our yurt is inspired by this time-honored design, it’s built with a durable aluminum frame and PVC cover, making it more suitable for the Irish climate.

The circular shape of TheYurt resonates deeply with us. It symbolizes the natural rhythms of life—Earth’s orbit around the sun, the movement of the tides, the flow of the seasons, our own circadian rhythms, and the continuous cycle of breath. This shape fosters a sense of unity, creating a space that feels like a giant nest—close to nature, yet cozy and sheltered from the elements. It’s a place to ground yourself, share with others, and embark on a journey of self-discovery. Being in TheYurt feels like a big, warm hug.
